canopy

Canopy, shown at the Arts + Literature Laboratory Gallery in Spring of 2025, is a grouping of acrylic panels that move in connection to an external wind sensor. The panels are suspended overhead on branch-like armatures. Each panel is printed with an abstract composition of trees and connected to a motor. The wind sensor activates the panels, which flutter like leaves, simulating the outdoor environmental conditions inside the gallery. During the day, Canopy shadows shift revealing the sun’s movement. At night, Canopy is illuminated by lights. Each viewing of Canopy is be unique, as weather conditions change.
