Pools, shown at the UW Madison Arboretum, are terracotta vessels inset in ground that mimic natural phenomena and contribute to the surrounding ecosystem. By capturing rainwater, they create reflection planes, visually reconstructing the environment. Due to terracotta’s porosity, the water is slowly absorbed into the earth, providing water retention for increasingly drought-prone land.
